Abstract

Prephysics is quadrivial. In its relation to physics, it is a grammar of measurement; as logic, it is a grammar of languaging; and with respect to history, it is a grammar of historiography; and as a grammar of Being, it is theology. Yet the fourfoldness of prephysics is merely programmatic. At heart, prephysics is a grammar of Being. That is because: Being is all-that-can-be-the-case insofar as it is the realm of the over-all interaction between "raw nature" and the "languaging agents". In virtue of the languaging agents, languagents for short, raw nature becomes such and such. Thus, natural language is the form of life insofar as life is raw-nature-as-it-becomes-such-and-such. This grammatical drive of the languagents throughout raw nature has its raw seat in their grammatical latticework which no psychophysics can "faithfully" reproduce. That is, the languagents are ab ovo grammatical. Qua grammatical latticeworks the languagents cannot help but defuzzify what they encounter throughout raw nature. That which comprehended in this willy-nilly way is the "physical world". Thus, it is only in virture of languagents that the "physical world" transpires throughout "raw nature". In this way, a languagent is a latticework of raw nature with at-least-one-grammatical-step-ahead-of-what-it-encounters-throughout-raw-nature. I thus call it the prephysical agent. Now while grammar is prephysical and has to do with languaging qua standing-in for raw nature, logic is meta-prephysical and has to do with judging qua standing-out for the physical world. Thus when the prephysical agents decide to interact with parts of raw nature in such a way as to reach certain logical ends, they become physicists. These meta-prephysical ends, have to with the truth-valuedness, completeness and/or self-consistency of some operational grammar which the agents, qua physicists, articulate in order to defuzzify the ad rem parts of raw nature. The prephysical observers qua physicists drive towards higher and higher degress of defuzzification. However, such higher degrees of defuzzification cannot be reached wholesale. Hence, the idea of prephysics qua historiography of physics becomes imperative
