Abstract

The article deals with Jewish law and ethics in the light of dignity of a human being. The rule of law as a basic principle of rabbinic culture is discussed in the spheres of individual, family and social life. The extracts from the Bible, the Mishnah and Talmud describe the importance of study, family life and charity in rabbinic tradition. Needless to say, the essence and the meaning of law in Jewish culture differs from the western legal epistemology. So does the ethics
