Zur Banalität des Wahnsinns (On the banality of madness)

Abstract

Based on a philosophical reflection on the murder of the young Senegalese Mohamed Lamine Dramé by the police on 8 August 2022, this essay argues for the urgent need to free the human mind from madness and the social violence it generates. But how can this be achieved if not by constantly learning to rediscover the organic truth of our daily human experience as a precondition for social reform? The lecture was given during the workshop 'Racism in Enlightenment Philosophy: Consequences for Theory and Practice' at the University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia (HSPV NRW), Münster (Germany). 06.06.2024.
