Aportación de un imaginario latinoamericano y universal en el constructivismo pictórico de Joaquín Torres García

Abstract

El artículo presenta las ideas estéticas del pintor uruguayo Joaquín Torres García, las cuales se concretan en la propuesta de su Teoría del Universalismo constructivo o Arte constructivo universal. Las ideas de este artista, como la de su imperativo ético-estético central, la de homo imaginans, y su referencia al signo en relación con la imagen y otros elementos artísticos, configuran la labor y la amplia contribución de Torres García a la estética contemporánea.Palabras llave: Joaquín Torres García; estética latinoamericana; constructivismo pictórico.This article presents the aesthetical ideas of the Uruguayan painter Joaquín Torres García, which can be encompassed in his proposal of a Theory of Constructive Universalism, or Universal Constructive Art. The ideas of this artist, as that of his central aesthetical-ethical imperative, or that of homo imaginans, and his reference to sign in relation with image and other artistic elements, embody the work and wide contribution of Torres García to contemporary aesthetics.Palabras llave: Joaquín Torres García; Latin-American aesthetics; pictorial constructivism.
