Abstract

Indian diaspora is the largest segment of the expatriate population in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries. A large number of Indian expatriates are employed in white collared professions in the GCC countries. With increasing importance being given to higher education by the governments of the GCC countries, private and public universities and colleges regularly hire and re-hire expatriate academics from various countries including India. This research investigated the nature and extent of work-life balance of Indian expatriates according to key demographical factors. Data was collected from three countries in the region through online survey and analyzed to suggest a preliminary framework to help improve the work-life balance of Indian academics.
