Abstract
The main thesis of this study is that the history and philosophy of geography is visible example of the macro-epistemological debates. In this article, it is advocated that the history and the philosophy of geography has a potentiality of providing a new approach to the debate of Two Cultures. In geography, there is not any concept-fatigue about ‘Two Cultures’ and because of this situation the discipline of geography is more suitable than the other disciplines for discussing new approaches. On the other hand, it is investigated that in what extent the geography may retain the name of science as a multi-paradigm discipline. And also it is opened to debate that the multi-paradigm social science which emerged as a new model from the geography whether can be offer a new science definition. Of the 20th century’s last thirty years, the studies which were in oppositon to existing Two Cultures distinctions have found a large field for themselves in the philosophy and history of science. In this context, the development of the geography, discipline’s epistemological attitudes and macro-epistemological debates are investigated as parallel traces. The conclusion of the paper is that the discipline of geography as an empirical field of science studies is fully compatible with multi-paradigm science model.
