Russian annexation of Crimea:a five-year-old lighter

Abstract

The article examines the events that preceded the annexation of the Crimea and occurred during the seizure of the peninsula by the Russian Federation in 2014. The reasons of invasion of Russian military forces into Ukraine are analyzed. The arguments of politicians concerning the fact that it prevented the organization of military resistance from the beginning of Russian aggression was given. The consequences of the annexation of the Crimea are determined. Prospects of further relations between Ukraine and Russia are outlined, threats of escalation of the conflict are revealed. The actions of Russian Federation during annexation of Crimea rudely violated principles of international law in industry of providing of the world and safety and peaceful collaboration, namely: principle of the non-use of force or threat by force in international relations, principle of sovereign equality of the states, principle of inviolability of state boundaries, principle of territorial integrity of the states. The terms of the Budapest memorandum are broken, Agreement is broken on friendship, collaboration and partnership between Ukraine and Russian Federation of 1997 and Agreement between Ukraine and Russian Federation about the Russian-Ukrainian state boundary of 2003 on March, 16, 2014 in Crimea the so-called "referendum" took place about status of peninsula, on results that Russia "added" Crimea on March, 18, actually annexing him. The results of voting on a "referendum" are not confessed by the world. The military actions of Russia in Ukraine are a clear violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Russia continues to build a powerful military base in the Crimea. The threat of the invasion of the Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine did not disappear even today. The annexed Crimea remains an active problem, which continues to be a threat to international order.
