Abstract

City archipelagoThis brief paper has, as its primary goal, to explore three fundamental issues through which we will attempt to approach the sense of a Latin American city by taking Caracas as a reference. We first propose to take a historiographical approach emphasizing on the issue of modernity. Secondly, we consider some self-comprehension exercises that have arisen around the city. Thirdly, we approach the course taken by ethics and politics in contemporary Venezuela, in light of various events in Caracas. As an epilogue, it shows a case of everyday life, revealing of the excisions caused by politics and the city as spectacle
