Abstract

The European spiritual tradition is rooted in the question of good and evil. Having shed light on how the most important thematic aspects of this question have been addressed in philosophy, the author develops the hypothesis that human action has the possibility of being placed beyond the opposition of good and evil, which calls for nothing less than the re-definition of our understanding of ethics and morals. One should also take into account how ethical choices are manifested in real life, on the one hand, and how they are dictated by life itself on the other
