Abstract

We intend a revision of some concepts regarding the imagination category at the crossing point of two traditions: Gastón Blanchard’s, and its critical interpretation by Herbert Marcuse. Our purpose is to analyze the emancipating function of art from the dialectics standpoint. For this, we will use a contrasting procedure of approaching and moving away, making an aesthetic distinction between matter and form, and reaching the political issue of imagination liberation within repressive societies.
