The Concept Development of Stigma and the Construction of Multiple Levels Conceptual Framework

Abstract

Social stigma for some individuals or groups of derogatory, insulting label, which allows an individual or group has to be derogatory or believe have certain properties and characteristics of these attributes or qualities of those who have not only been self-stigma disparage psychology, it also led to social discrimination and unfair treatment. The study of stigma in the process of interpretation of the more prominent include awareness that the motive that the evolution and function of said system, said system. Formation mechanism from the point of view, the process of covering the stigma perception of object dimensions, personal and emotional dimension group cognitive-behavioral dimensions of multidimensional hierarchical model. In the future course of the study, the research should be closely integrated with two approaches of sociology and psychology, will be the continued integration of multiple methods, facts and theory go hand in hand, to further enhance the value of local research and explore. Stigma is defined as a sign of disgrace of discredit, which sets a person apart from others. It is the product of social and cognitions, clue, stereotype, prejudice and discrimination. And its forming mechanisms were associated with stereotype, prejudice and discrimination. We can describe stigma in terms of its key structural elements of functions from its origins, its basic content, its types and dimensions, its functions of stigmatizing others. And then, we attempt to locate the study of stigma within the larger context of general social- psychological processes. We can make great progresses and achievements for future research in this field
