Abstract

A collection of eight essays centered around the question of the precise relationship between the intellectual and the moral political ends of Western liberal education, particularly in the United States. The authors seem to be in broad agreement with the views expresses in Allan Bloom's The Closing of the American Mind (included is an article by Bloom extolling the virtues of the classics) and, from different starting points criticize the growth of politicized post- modern education.
