Abstract

Develops a new theory for the practice of architecture and urban design that is centered around the concept of elegance. Lincourt (architecture, Strasbourg U.) develops a set of archetypes for designing a more satisfactory architecture, and he provides an in- depth analysis of three examples of architectural elegance: the Palais-Royal, the Fondation Rothchild Workers' Residence in Paris, and the Municipality of Outremont in Montreal.
