Abstract

Die Praxis der Sauglingstaufe als Normalfall christlicher Initiation in der lateinischen Kirche geht bis in die Fruhzeit zuruck. Wahrend es aber zunachst neben der Kindertaufe auch den Taufaufschub gab, verschwindet dieser ab dem 5. Jahrhundert. Hier werden sowohl die gesellschaftlichen und politischen Fakten, die fur die Entwicklung der Praxis mitentscheidend waren, als auch die theologischen Reflexionen Tertullians, Cyprians und Augustinus zum Thema Kindertaufe und Taufaufschub untersucht."
