Abstract

This essay, that pretends to be a social-political cultural project, postulates the identity of Latin America from an Andean category, namely, chakana. The study is done into the horizon of the intercultural philosophy, specifically from the author Josef Estermann, who has showed deep interest regarding the question of the intercultural dialogue between Andes and Western world. Besides, it uses authors as Javier Lajo and Mario Mejía Huamán to deepen the Andean concept of chakana. To elucidate questions such as: What is the Latin American identity based in? How does it has to be conceived? Why do we talk about Latin American identity?, is the main worry of this essay. After some reflections, the author finishes pointing some considerations related to the act of assuming the Latin-American identity postulated.
