Abstract

In his Homily on the Transfiguration, Andrew of Crete employs a number of concepts, metaphors, and expressions from classical philosophy, including the dialogues of Plato, Aristotle’s concept of the unmoved mover, and symbolic arithmology of the Neopythagoreans, known to Andrew by mediation of Philo of Alexandria.
