En este artículo se profundiza en la vida y obra de los tres primeros traductores, cuyo nombre conocemos, de las obras de Charles R. Darwin en España: el brigadier de la Armada Juan Nepomuceno de Vizcarrondo ; el escritor Joaquín María Bartrina ; y el periodista Enrique Godínez y Esteban .
