Abstract

This chapter describes the state of species in the anthropocene. The delicate ecological balance of ecosystems has been disturbed by human activity, allowing viruses to quickly evolve and leap between species. As a result, the Anthropocene has produced the ideal conditions for the spread of viruses. This has caused the creation of novel viruses like COVID-19, which have had a substantial negative impact on the world economy and health. In recent years, viral epidemics have become more frequent. Whether of monetary, medicinal, or biotechnological reasons, viruses are linked to humans or directly human-related hosts. Through raising the likelihood and severity of pandemics, the Anthropocene significantly contributes to the acceleration of the occurrence of viral pathogen-driven cross-species infectious illnesses. Our understanding of the Anthropocene must continue to incorporate “health for all” and “One Health,” according to global health.
