L’histoire du mouvement social des coopératives de consommation n’a pas retenu l’attention des chercheurs en France depuis l’histoire de Jean Gaumont, historien et coopérateur, publiée en 1924. L’ouvrage de l’historienne américaine, Ellen Furlough, analyse pratiquement cent ans du mouvement coopérateur.
