Abstract

Charles Fu has been seen outside the modern Neo-Confucianism Confucian critics, the article from the three areas that he is fully qualified included in modern Neo-Confucianism camp. First of all argumentation he is a scholar of high cultural mission, three major trends in modern China , he is bound to select the cultural conservatism, which to modern Neo-Confucianism. Followed by four academic thinking on his tendency to describe his ownership of only the modern Neo-Confucianism. Finally, he discussed with the third generation of the new features of Confucian ideas in common, namely: ① respected Confucianism, but not the absolute value of Confucianism; ② though not agree with Marxism, Marxism was able to objectively evaluate; ③ adhere to diverse values, although the Chinese culture-based, but not rejection of Western culture, although the emphasis on the spirit of Confucianism in the modern sense, but never reckless assertion of cultural identity development of Confucianism is the only human direction. Fu Weixun is considered an extra-Confucian Confucian critic all the time, and this article just demonstrates this in the flowing three aspects. First, he is proved to be a scholar of cultural duty, and faced with the three primary thought's trends , he cannot but choose cultural conservatism and make for modern Confucianism; second, his academic ideology tends to prove that he belongs to modern Confucianism; at last, we opine that his thoughts carry the characteristic of the third generation of modern Confucianism: 1) to canonize Confucianism, but never to absolutize it; 2) not to identify with Marxism, but to evaluate it objectively; 3) to hold multi cultural value and nativism, but not to repel western culture; to emphasize on the contemporary significance of Confucianism, but never rashly to assert that Confucianism would be the only course for Man's future
