Abstract

Sermone Domini in monte is the exegetical work written by St. Augustine. In his work St. Augustine treat the interpretation of the Lord’s speech on the mountain taken from the atthew Gospel. Our paper tries to introduce this work at the backround of the Patristic biblical exegesis. We introduce the main principles of the biblical exegesis form the atristic period, where we focus on the St. Augustine’s theory of the symbol and allegoric interpretation of the Gospel. Finally we present the interpretation of the Lord’s speech from the view of the beatitudes and from the view of their practical purpose.
