Abstract

The thesis supported in this paper is that the poetry of Adrienne Rich can straighten out some of the controversies in recent feminist literary criticism. In order to present the way in which Rich's poetry reconciles two seemingly incompatible approaches to the question of feminine writing, I will concentrate first on the aspects of both Anglo-American and French feminist literary theory, that bring out the difference most clearly
