Abstract
La BD africaine est une réalité elle se lit, se vend et existe sous différents formats : vignettes dans un quotidien, planches dans un magazine, album complet, album de compilation, album collectif, etc. Elle est publiée en français, en anglais, en portugais, en arabe et dans les langues locales. Elle couvre différents genres, à savoir les contes et récits oraux, la BD biographique, éducative, comique, historique, religieuse. Ce texte traite d’une manière schématique de l’existence de la BD africaine en précisant ses principaux acteurs et en décrivant son appareil de production.African comic strips are here to stay, and are read, sold and available in many different formats: vignettes in daily papers, full-page comic strips in magazines, albums, compilations, joint albums and so on. They are published in French, English, Portuguese, Arabic and local languages. They cover a variety of genres, from storytelling and oral narratives to biography, educational material, comedy, history and religion. This article looks schematically into the presence of African comic strips in the French-speaking African countries, introducing the main players and describing the processes involved in their production.
