Abstract

El texto muestra la complejidad de la discusión en torno al sentido y la dirección de la historia, y sobre todo la dificultad mayor de una dotación de sentido a favor del desarrollo histórico en el mundo actual. El artículo reconstruye brevemente la posición pesimista de la Escuela de Frankfurt sobre este tema, posición que representa una respuesta al optimismo convencional del liberalismo y del marxismo, desde una crítica de los resultados debidos a la tecnología y a la vista de los problemas ecológicos. Finalmente se esboza el escepticismo moderado de Karl Löwith como un compromiso aceptable.Palabras llave: Sentido de la historia; Escuela de Frankfurt; Filosofía de la historia; Karl Löwith.The text displays the complexity of the discussion about the sense and the direction of history, and above all the great difficulty of endowing any sense to historical development in the present world. The article reconstructs briefly the pessimist position of the Frankfurt School, which represents a response to the conventional optimism of liberalism and marxism, conceived from a critique of the results due to technology and in view of today’s ecological problems.
