Abstract

The current crisis of many social institutions, which is particularly characteristic of the post-Soviet countries, and is largely due to the situation where a system of norms and values that united people into the community has already been destroyed, and the other has not yet been formed, and has a significant impact on such an important institution as a family. Orthodox Churches offered their model for strengthening family and family relations in the new conditions. Secular scholars and theologians appreciate the Church's ability to influence the problems of the modern family, the significance and effectiveness of Christian values under the new conditions, and to overcome the negative manifestations of this issue. In this article the author tries to scrutinize this problem in a balanced and objective way, to give his or her vision of the potential of the Orthodox faith in the changes of the Institute of the Family for the better, to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the activity of the Orthodox Church in this direction.
