Abstract

Margaret Slade presents the papers in this section and contrasts those that deal with topics that have received extensive treatment in the literature such as those on game theory by Van Damme and on the organization of the firm by Ponssard and Tanguy. She observes the move from superrationality to more context‐oriented reasoning in these areas. She also discusses the role of imperfect competition as dealt with by D’Aspremont et al. and by Gabszewicz. The latter highlights the problems encountered in this area while the former propose a new solution concept. She finds that there is an astonishing ignorance in the feedback from product market competition to agent incentives while the feed back from internal organisation to product market competition is better understood but many problems remain.
