Abstract

Historical factors are behind the relative lack of research into radio in the field of the young information and communication sciences despite radio’s very popular audience. The paper explores the cause of this deficit, compared with TV studies, and shows that the difficulties faced by those carrying out such research into radio are in themselves opportunities for better analysis of media phenomena
