  1. Authentic assessment for student learning: an ontological conceptualisation.Thuy T. Vu & Gloria Dall’Alba - 2014 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 46 (7):1-14.
Authentic assessment has been proposed as having potential to enhance student learning for a changing world. Conventionally, assessment is seen to be authentic when the tasks are real-to-life or have real-life value. Drawing on Martin Heidegger’s work, we challenge this conceptualisation as narrow and limited. We argue that authenticity need not be an attribute of tasks but, rather, is a quality of educational processes that engage students in becoming more fully human. Adopting the mode of authenticity involves calling things into (...)

  • Interpretive Hermeneutic Phenomenology: Clarifying Understanding.Ann E. McManus Holroyd - 2007 - Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology 7 (2):1-12.
The philosophical orientation of Gadamerian hermeneutic phenomenology is explored in this paper. Gadamer offers a hermeneutics of the humanities that differs significantly from models of the human sciences historically rooted in scientific methodologies. In particular, Gadamer proposes that understanding is first a mode of being before it is a mode of knowing; what this effectively offers is an alternative to the traditional way of understanding in the human sciences. This paper details why the work of hermeneutics is not to develop (...)

  • The Experience of Being Diagnosed with a Psychiatric Disorder: Living the Label.Zelda G. Knight & Bruce C. Bradfield - 2003 - Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology 3 (1):1-20.

This article is based on research that sought to understand the impact of the psychiatric label upon labelled individuals interpersonal and intersubjective presence as experienced outside the psychiatric institution. The principle question asked was: “What is the experience of being (...)

  • Communication design and the other: investigating the intersubjective in practice.N. Haslem - unknown
This research investigates the intersubjective aspects of communication design practice through a focus on the other, and the roles that the other takes in practice. It does so in order to better understand the practice of communication design as practiced on a day-to-day basis. Communication design, as a practice, and a field, extends out of graphic design. This extension is due to a change in priorities; from privileging the graphic and artefactual aspects of practice, to prioritising the consideration of the (...)

  • O entretenimento no caminho do impessoal à cura do ser do dasein.Rafael Duarte Oliveira Venancio - 2007 - Revista Morpheus - Estudos Interdisciplinares Em Memória Social 6 (10):sd-sd.
