Abstract
We intend to catch some of the main lines of Fernando Pessoa’s thought by commenting three short but fundamental texts, in particular the Statement: “God exists, in fact, for himself; but God is deluded”. Starting from the vision of a primordial ground without ground, free from any determination, that only negating himself, or being negated, manifests in the multiplicity of levels and forms of the ontognosiological determinations, in one “illusion” / “creation” that engenders all the modes of being and consciousness, including the human and divine self-consciousness, Pessoa thinks and proposes the liberation from that in an initiation by des-illusion that can unveil the “Life” and uncreated “awareness” hidden in its own manifestation. That initiation is the “way of the Serpent”, seen as the process by which the mind experiments and understands all the entification possibilities - self, world and God - at the same time that it negates them and itself, returning to the primordial and unchangeable indetermination.
