Abstract

The paper focuses on comparasion of the Greek original from Plato’s dialogue Republic with the Latin translation, which Cicero cites in the treatise On the Commonwealth. Cicero in this work changes the sense of the Greek text by the various formal and meaning techniques. Author removes the dialogical constitution of the Plato’s passages and omits from the Latin text expressly Greek terms. Further, Cicero changes Plato’s sarcastic tone and prefers more formal and critique style. With using these techniques he discredits of Greek model of democratic’s freedom and evolves more acceptable Roman democratic’s freedom.
