Abstract

The article “Hermeneutics as a way to language” is devoted to reflection upon resourses, trends and application limits of hermeneutic thinking, the formation of its treatment of language. The problem of language arises when we discover that the horizon of the truth lies beyond the language. The language as well as the very things becomes an object of cognition but besides this, language is considered to be a medium or instrument of cognition. This inspires the hermeneutic practice which presupposes a methodology of translating from one language into another according to ideas of the truth or the good. In its development, hermeneutics comes to the recognition that sense is an ever open coordination of meanings but the notion of truth implies the meanings conformity to certain frames. That’s why it turns out that a true sentence might have no sense and vice verca, and even the very idea of a true sense is irrelevant and not a hermeneutical one. But despite this partial solving of the problem and even the recognition of its fundamental and non-methodological status, hermeneutics has no possibility to abolish instrumental attitude to the language inherent to technocratic culture. So its role can be still important in keeping the position of surprise and respect to language as a gift to the human being.
