What is "media"? - The philosophical foundation of the media and Han Yi

Abstract

This paper is to explore the philosophical basis of the media, from "What is the media" as the originator, and then explore how to develop the concept of media for today's media, how the media can have so much "strength" and people with social change? Its roots lie? Face caused by all kinds of media development, the paper finally, a fundamental human questions and the media. In the mid-twentieth century, the media attention is capable of philosophy in France and the German philosopher have issued a warning on the impact of the media. However, the occurrence of media philosophy, they are not overnight overnight into. Published as early as McLuhan "Understanding Media" before the media had gone through the ancient Greek philosophy, modern philosophy that the development of structural linguistics; although weak, are still difficult to find clues. Therefore, this study first started, and thus from the definition of Zi interpretation of the media, are discussed in the summary of the media's point of view of traditional philosophy, the language of symbols of the media, that is, the structure of language, semiotics of Saussure, Lacan's theory of language with the main associated with the core argument Bart semiotics, finally, discusses McLuhan's media theory, key concepts.
