Abstract

Each nursing model incorporates specific views on four value-laden components: nursing, person, health, environment. In part two of the study an action research approach was used to implement the "Human Needs" Model (HNM) on a long-stay psychiatry ward. Within a broader quasi-experimental design selected quality of care indicators were appraised before and after the implementation of the model. These dependent variables were also monitored on a control ward. Data were collected on both wards at one pretest and two posttest points using a triangulation of mostly quantitative research methods. The research instruments (Delphi-Technique,...) used emanated from the literature and the field work lasted nearly nine months.
