Abstract

!e study of Hermeneutics o"ers authenticity in correlating the poetic and philosophical language during the XX century. However, as H.-G. Gadamer said in “Philosophy and Poetry”, there has been fruitful tension between poetry and philosophy since the origin of the European philosophical idea. It should be noticed that for any analysis of dialectic interaction of poetry and philosophy not only Ancient Greek culture is of interest, but also that of Ancient Rome which is generally less appreciated yet highly relevant.!ere are di"erent forms of interconnections of poetry and philosophy in the ancient Roman culture. First of all, it is theoretical comprehension of poetry and its attitude towards philosophy as in philosophical prose, as far as in verses. In the ancient Roman literature there are also valuable examples of practical interrelation of poetry and philosophy – the philosophy being expressed in poetical forms and the poetry rich of philosophical ideas.!e analysis of both philosophical and poetic works of Ancient Rome authors shows that the poetry in Ancient Rome was considered as the perfect form to express complex ontological, ethical and aesthetical ideas.
