Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the philosophical texture of the metaphorical and symbolic opposition hot vs. cold, leading from nature to thought, but to a thought that takes root in the naturalness of the body. The thermic metaphor goes after the western philosophy since its rising, and so here we try to suggest that this has been the result of a cooling process too, with some kind of reversal. Thanks to a joyful coming and going between the coldness of philosophy and the animal heat of the body, between medicine and cinematography, the intention is testing the idea of a thought that the more increases in terms of lucidity the more it says ‘yes’ to life. Sloterdijk’s myth of a ‘cold thought’ is so deconstructed through the variants ofthe violent spontaneous combustion –the demonic fire of philosophy –and slow and ‘temperate’ one, namely the heat that turns the thought into a tuning system of the body.
