Was the Polish Pope a French Personalist?: An Indication from Evangelium Vitae

Abstract

A close reading of the personalism of Karol Wojtyla reveals that his regard for the orientation of the individual's particular good to the common good distinguishes his personalist thought from that of preeminent French personalists, including Emmanuel Mounier and Jacques Maritain.
