Abstract

The occasion for this critical review is the publication of a second, revised edition of David M Balme's translation, with introduction and notes, of Aristotle's "De Partimus Animalium I" and "De Generatione Animalium I" in the Clarendon Aristotle series. This critical review discusses Balme's unique style of translation and commentary, analyzing in detail a number of key passages in both
