Abstract

An examination of the various manifestations of love, in the form of a conversation between a psychiatrist and two young interlocutors. Each type of love--adoring, benevolent and erotic--follows its own laws and is subject to its own special obstacles. The emotional and sexual life of man is described in general terms as that of a being who is "not only biological but also metaphysical" in nature. The author's many insights into human emotional processes are complemented by counsels for avoiding and overcoming anxieties connected with love.--M. F.
