Abstract

O objetivo deste texto é examinar as aproximações entre Rawls e Höffe em relação à educação e à formação moral. De acordo com Höffe e Rawls, a finalidade da educação é realizar a moralização e a humanização. Para Rawls, a educação deve ensinar aos alunos os conceitos necessários para atuarem como pessoas razoáveis em seu futuro papel de cidadãos. A educação política liberal deve, desta forma, ensinar aos alunos que, agir como pessoas razoáveis em suas relações políticas públicas com cada um dos outros, envolve o uso de idéias e valores de uma razão pública. Höffe, por sua vez, define a educação ideal como o processo de socialização, civilização e moralização do homem. Para ele, a educação ideal é educar o homem de acordo com os princípios do respeito e da tolerância, isto é, Höffe conclui que uma sociedade justa deve ser tolerante. Para ambos os filósofos a educação serve como fundamento para uma sociedade justa.The purpose of this paper is to examine Rawls and Höffe’s approaches to education and moral formation. According to Höffe and Rawls, the main purpose of education is realizing a moralisation and humanisation. To Rawls, the education would teach students the skills and concepts necessary for them to act as “reasonable persons” in their future roles as citizens. A political liberal education therefore would teach students that acting as reasonable persons in their public political relations with each other involves employing the ideas and values of public reason when deciding fundamental political questions, and would teach them the skills and concepts necessary to do this. Höffe defi ned ideal education as a process of socializing, civilizing and moralising of man’s. To him, the ideal education is to train man’s in accordance with the principles of respect and tolerance, i.e., Höffe concludes that a just society must be tolerant. For both, the education is the basis for a society.
