Abstract

Nietzsche's place in the canon of political philosophy has been articulated, increasingly, according to the scope of Left-Nietzschean political thought. Yet this particular strain of Nietzsche interpretation ignores a vital element of Nietzsche's philosophy. That element is 'hierarchy' and its role at the heart of Nietzsche's ontological claims. One of the most important contributions to Left-Nietzschean thought may be found in Gilles Deleuze's Nietzsche and Philosophy. Significantly, it is Deleuze who has the most to say about hierarchy in Nietzsche's books. Therefore, in an attempt to help liberate Nietzsche from the narrow parameters of Left-Nietzschean thought, it is necessary to rethink Deleuze's influential interpretation
