Abstract

Natürlich war Aristoteles der eigentliche Gründer der später ›Peripatos‹ genannten Schule. Diese Bezeichnung und diejenige ihrer Anhänger als ›Peripatetiker‹ kam vermutlich schon während des Scholarchats durch Aristoteles’ unmittelbaren Nachfolger Theophrast auf, der dann auch im materiellen und juristischen Sinne den Bestand der Schule durch den Erwerb eines Grundstückes auf dem oder in der Nähe des Lykeion in Athen sichern konnte. Die späteren Scholarchen verfügten über das Grundstück und das vorhandene Sachvermögen.
