Some considerations on Consumerism

Abstract

The phenomenon of consumerism affects various aspects of our life, from our personal attitude to material possession to our social definition; from our food consumption to its effects on world food consumption; from our use of natural resources to the future availability of them. But daily we are so much involved in our own business that we don't mind that it may concern someone else. A problem our world is still facing, and that is growing up in the last years, is the hunger in the world and the relevance of cereal production to the survival of developing countries. Here we report the new data released by FAO on world wheat production. These data point out which countries have an unfavorable perspectives for the plantations and which need particular supports; a disproportion between quantity of cereals produced vs quantity of cereals needed for survival; an analysis of the productions of cereals, forecasts of productions and relationships between the years 2007 and 2008.
