Abstract

John Leslie Mackie erwarb 1938 an der Universität Sydney den Grad des B. A. Er erhielt ein Stipendium für Oxford und studierte 1938–1940 am Oriel College Klassische Philologie und Philosophie. Nach seinem Kriegsdienst wurde er Lecturer für Moralphilosophie an der Universität Sydney und anschließend Professor für Philosophie an den Universitäten Otago, Sidney und York. 1967 wurde er Fellow des University College in Oxford und 1974 Fellow of the British Academy.
