Abstract

The author, a practicing psychologist, argues that empathy among persons is at once a creative act and the ground of ethics and psychological therapy. An analysis of group therapy with alcoholics is given as an example of personal psychology at work, but it is recognized that further effort is needed to strengthen or modify the central thesis.--R.
