Abstract

Recognition as a social-theoretical and ethical-normative concept has been widely discussed in recent years. This paper explores recognition as a temporal phenomenon, focusing on the duration of recognition and the timing of recognition. The aim is to show that the consideration of this temporal dimension of recognition is important for both its social-theoretical and ethical-normative function.
