Abstract

The gift of this slender book, beautifully translated by Anne Boyman, lies in a single but crucial suggestion: the originality of Gilles Deleuze’s philosophical contribution is to be found in his treatment of the ancient concept of becoming as well as in his account of the impact of temporality on “what” we know and “how” we come to know it. A related suggestion of the book is that the reasons that make Deleuze’s work so original are the same ones that make his itinerary strikingly coherent from beginning to end.
