The Construction and Development of Native Afterlife Beliefs Scale for Undergraduate
Abstract
"Afterlife belief" in the life and death-related research is a very important issue, the United States, long concerned about the afterlife beliefs that sustained the subject. Afterlife beliefs may be related to a person's death anxiety, religion, meaning of life, suicidal tendencies, attitudes and behaviors related to death education and counseling should be well worth exploring on the topic. This study adopts literature review, site visits and questionnaire survey methods, studies of people abroad in addition to building the main content of afterlife belief, and according to the development of a next life for college students beliefs scale, but also for college students overview of afterlife beliefs to be explored and made use of the scale and direction of future research proposals. Afterlife belief was a very important topic in the field of life and death studies. It has been paid attention continually in American for a long time. Afterlife belief was likely to correlate with death anxiety, religion, feeling of life meaning, and tendency toward suicide and so on, so it is worth understanding on the field of death education and counseling. In consideration of the researches about afterlife belief were insufficient while the development of studies of life and death was respected in Taiwan, and the foreign scale might have the difference in culture and religion. It is necessary to develop a native 'Afterlife Beliefs Scale '. This research adopted the methods of literature review, interview, and questionnaire survey. In addition to the construction of contents of native afterlife beliefs, the results of this research included the Afterlife Beliefs Scale for undergraduate, the current profile of afterlife beliefs of the undergraduate population in Taiwan, and the suggestions about practice use of ABS and further research
