Abstract

Modern in its approach and elegantly written, this book gives the immediate impression that the author knows how to combine the scholarship of Kaufmann and the analytical dexterity of Danto in order to produce a good book and a new interpretation of Nietzsche. But the careful reader will not fail to discern that the author's concerns are more akin to those expressed by Kofman, Deleuze, and Derrida. Nehamas's achievement will show its real value if measured by the standards set by these thinkers.
