Abstract

O reforço que a emergência de alterações traz à capacidade de adaptação dos seres vivos ao meio levantao problema da possível influência deste factor no seu desenvolvimento. Sem negar à evolução uma inteligibilidade determinista, Piaget acentua o poder de coordenação dos organismos vivos que, ultrapassando as ingenuidades do lamarckismo e o mecanicismo da selecçãao darwinista, permite antes compreendê-la como a expressão de uma capacidade coordenadora do sujeito, capaz de promover a adequação do organismo ao mundo. Ao transpor este paradigma para os sistemas fisicos longe do equilibrio, Prigogine perde de vista este carácter teleonómico. A associação ao factor tempo representa urn esforço para sustentar a flutuação das novas configurações, mas sem no entanto restabelecer a sequência de um processo que a noção de teleonomia assegu-rava. O evoluir dos fenómenos fisicos aparece cortado de uma continuidade que confere consistência à mudança, deixando o tempo de poder ser concebido como a medida do que permanece no devir. /// Le renforcement que l'apparition de changements apporte à la capacité d'adaptation du vivant au milieu pose le problème de l'influence possible de ce facteur dans son développement. Sans nier à l'évolution une intelligibilité déterministe, Piaget relève le pouvoir de coordination du vivant et, dépassant les naïvetes du lamarckisme et le mécanisme de la sélection darwinienne, propose de comprendre l'évolution comme expression d'une capacité coordinatrice du sujet, capable de promouvoir l'adéquation de l'organisme au monde. En transposant ce paradigme aux systèmes physiques éloignés de l'équilibre, Prigogine perd de vue ce caractère téléonomique. L'association au facteur temps représente un effort pour soutenir la fluctuation des nouvelles configurations, sans néanmoins rétablir la continuité d'un processus que la notion de téléonomie assurait. L'évolution des phénomènes physiques parait privée de cette continuité qui confère consistance au changement, et le temps cesse d'être conçu comme la mesure de ce qui demeure dans le devenir. /// The reinforcement of the capacity of adaptation of living beings to their environment brought about by the emergence of change, raises the problem of the possible influence ofthisfactor in their development. Without denying a determinist inteligibility of evolution, Piaget stresses the ability of coordination of living organisms which, surpassing both the naivities of Lamarckism and the mechanicism of the Darwinian selection, allows for its understanding as the expression of the subject's coordinating capacity, which is capable to further the adaptation of the organisms to the world. Transposing this paradigm to physical systems, which are far from their state of equilibrium, Prigogine looses sight of that teleonomic character. His taking into account of the time factor represents an effort to sustain the fluctuation of the new configurations, whithout, however, reestablishing the sequence of a process which was assured by the notion of teleonomy. The evolution of physical phenomena appears to be cut off from that continuity which gives consistency to change, and time can no longer be conceived as the measure of what endures in change.
