Memory and creation in Bergson: on the phenomenon of attention and the planes of consciousness

Abstract

Resumo: Tendo como ponto de partida a distinção entre as duas formas de memória, nosso intuito é mostrar o aspecto criador da memória, em Bergson. Para tanto, investigaremos alguns exemplos do segundo e do terceiro capítulos de Matéria e memória, seu segundo livro. O que está em jogo, nesses exemplos, é o papel da memória em seu aspecto vital ou de atenção à vida ou, ainda, mais precisamente, do ponto de vista de sua junção com o corpo.: Starting from the distinction between the two forms of memory, our intention is to show the creative aspect of memory in Bergson. To do so, we will investigate some examples from the second and third chapters of Bergson's second book, Matter and Memory.
